- Description: Back in 2003 I spent an evening with some close college buds observing the Northern Lights. The experience was surreal and totally mind blowing. Since than the Sun's Solar Cycle was on the decline (heading towards Solar Min), meaning less Aurora activity. Making the Northern Lights even more elusive and much more difficult to photograph.
From that experience a life Goal was formed: To photograph the Aurora Borealis on Vermont Soil. In 2008 some changes took place within the Sun, this was the start of a new Solar Cycle (#24). Since the start of the new Solar Cycle the suns activity has been building and will continue to intensify until we reach Solar Max. Solar Maximum was predicted to occur sometime in 2014. However recent data suggests that Solar Max. may occur much sooner 2012.
So If you want to see the Northern Lights - Aurora Borealis, this season and next season should be fantastic.
