Pastures New Blanket

  • Title: Pastures New Blanket
  • State/Province/Region: Virginia
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Area: Washington DC
  • Nearest Town: Waterford
  • Brief Directions: The historic town of Waterford is in western Loudoun County Virginia. From the county seat, Leesburg, travel west on Rt. 7, take a right on route 9 then a right on Clarkes Gap Road through the town of Waterford. Continue on Clarkes Gap two miles.
  • Best Season: Autumn
  • Description: A freshly fallen blanket of snow stuck to everything because of the calm wind. The front was just clearing as the sun broke through the clouds selectively lighting the pasture. This is three exposures combined in Photomatix using Details Enhancer. I set to exposure compensation to -.7 to darken the set and increase the contrast.

Thanks Alena and David! I took a lot of shots of this landscape, but placing a person in the shot imparted the sense of amazement and exhilaration I was trying to capture. Merry Christmas!

Pelicans are great, all the way around. I like the shooting up angle. Merry Christmas!

Exhilarating photo Laura! Being in the foreground gives the viewer the sense of how vast and spectacular our earth is. The image also allows for the outdoor photographer to reflect back on times...
