Guarding The Hive

  • Title: Guarding The Hive
  • State/Province/Region: Washington
  • Country: United States
  • Nearest Town: Sequim
  • Best Season: Summer
  • Description: I happen to know a bee keeper and on this particular day we went to visit a new hive he had placed out at a farm. The bees are placed there to help pollinate the near by fruit trees. We didn't bring any bee suits to protect us but it was a cool day and being around hives before I didn't have much of a worry. This shot was taken by placing my camera and lens only about a 1 foot from the lower part of the hive. With a lot of activity around the hive I just started taking photos. This gal (all worker bees are female) defiantly saw me but decided to hang tight. This ended up being my favorite shot.

Thank you very much, Alena! Before planning your visit, do make sure to check park hours, as this area is not open to the public year-round.

Lovely composition of greenery and water motion, Alena. I especially like the textured waterfall curtain effect you have captured.
