  • Description: Leavenworth is a small town nestled in the eastern side of the Washington Cascade mountains. Several decades ago the town decided to make themselves like a Bavarian village and changed their building code to bring it about. Now this wonderful little place is very loved and cherished by people all around the world. I am fortunate enough to live about an hour and a half away, on the western side of the Cascades and get to journey over frequently. My favorite time is right before Christmas when the Christmas mood is simply overflowing! Live music in the village square, live storybook characters walking/dancing around, kids sledding down the hill, joyous, festival experiences everywhere! To capture this photo I needed to get just a little higher in order to shoot over top of the automobile headlights. I found a large pile of hard packed snow and planted myself atop. I quickly picked out this composition and remained in this spot through sunset and the ensuing twilight. More than just a few people stood by hoping I'd give up my vantage point, but I was there to stay through what I had envisioned the light would become. This is a single image, no HDR (not that I'm opposed to HDR at all). Only slight edits in Lightroom 4 to bump up the clarity and that's about it.

Thank you kindly Laura! I'm sorry for not responding sooner, as it's hard to get to a computer right now. I always enjoy the Spring with wonderful colors. I look forward to sharing some new Spring...

Holly Molly that is just beautiful. That needs to be on the cover of OP magazine. Probably the most awesome image I have seen on here to date.
