Using iPhone app The Photographers Ephemeris and the add-on SkyFire sunset forecast subscription, I was able to predict where the sunset light would be productive. I drove about 30 minutes and hiked for a while to set up for this scene to unfold.
The more northward position of the setting sun provides some unique lighting for summer sunset shots.
