The Midnight Sun produces some of the longest sunsets and then transforms them into the longest sunrises. This waterfall is in central Iceland and the riverbed is comprised of lava which is what gives it the rich black color. The natural blue of the water is due to the glacial runoff which is full of silt. I attempted catching the sun setting here at this amazing waterfall many times to no avail. On this particular evening I got lucky. Not only was I able to experience the Midnight Sunset but to catch this glorious sky during the summer solstice was the highlight of my trip to Iceland.
