A hot summer's evening in Canyonlands, June 2015. During this awesome visit to the desert, I looked forward to each sunset for two reasons: the opportunity for some great low light on the desert's landforms, and the coming reprieve in temps as the sun sank away for the night! With this image, I was heavily drawn to the two "burning bushes" catching the last light, and the strong form of the classically shaped butte which I composed center stage. The bright, warm sunset glow (and a fair bit of haze!) behind the butte created a natural isolation of these features.
