Sierra Point is the only place in Yosemite where you can glimpse up the otherwise hidden valley at Illilouette Falls. After rockfall blew out the trail in the 1960s, the park removed the trail from maps and deemed it to unsafe to maintain. This shot was taken while the sun was beginning to set in early June. I was lucky to be up there while the last rays were catching the falls at peak flow. The black and white does a fine job of bringing out the detail in the granite rockwalls that frame the shot and draw the eye up the valley.
