I joined thousands of photographers in Yosemite Valley this spring in an attempt to capture the famous horsetail firefall. There was plenty of water in the fall and the forecast was for clear skies. I found the composition I wanted and then waited for sunset. Unfortunately some clouds came in from the west just before sunset and the famous red glow never appeared. There was a nice moment, though, when the sun backlit the falls while streaks of clouds filled the sky. I knew this would make a compelling B&W and took some exposures.
