During a backpacking trip through Yellowstone, my wife and I noticed the bison were shedding their winter fur. As we were packing up from a campsite a herd of bison decided to move in. Luckily they did not care about us much and we kept our distance as we quickly got our things together to move on away from the herd. I kept watch on the group with my camera and got this great shot of a young male scratching some of his shedding coat to get some relief from the matted fur, leaving clumps behind. Was humorous to see his look of elation from a nice scratch.
