Chasing light at the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes over a 100 F day was a big challenge. Light was coming down fast yet these dunes seem to be farther and farther away. Walking across the soft sand in hot weather with two tripods and two cameras and water and other supplies for the evening was an amazing challenge and great work out and extremely tiring. Some of these dunes are so steep that it is almost impossible to climb up without going up in an oblique line..the dunes that you see in front of you in this picture is one of the highest dunes in this area. Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes is a good 15 square miles so you can only imagine how big these dunes are..i got to this vantage point just in time to capture some good golden light basking the sands before the light went away.
