South on US 491 From Shiprock, NM and West Indian Service Road 13
Shiprock is a monadnock rising nearly 1,583 feet above the high-desert plain of the Navajo Nation in San Juan County, New Mexico, United States.
Shiprock or Tsé Bitʼaʼí (Navajo for rock with wings) is one of the most photographed landscape icons in New Mexico. In May 2015, I was lucky enough to visit the area when it was transformed by a massive wildflower bloom. A profusion of blooms on the high desert around the monolith is a rare event.
