The Bear Rocks Preserve in the Dolly Sods Wilderness of West Virginia is one of the more photographed areas in that state. It always lends itself to impressive sunrises and there are many tours and workshops led in that area. Needless to say it's a very popular location and you often have to get there very early to stake you claim. Other times you'll have the whole place to yourself as I did following a severe storm system that moved through the area during the night and early morning. Even though it was pouring rain all the way in to the parking area for Bear Rocks I went anyway for a sunrise that may or may not be visible. The rain stopped and the clouds broke right at sunrise, so taking a chance with the weather paid off and I was able to catch the unique sight of the the surmising through the breaking storm clouds.
