Interstate 5 to Encinitas Blvd exit; go west 4 blocks to the beach. Make sure you have a tide chart.
Tidal rocks come and go on the beaches around Encinitas, exposed by high fall tides. When not buried by sand or high water, they make interesting focal points along the coast. The trick is to match the correct tide level at sunset and then get lucky enough to have some cloud cover that will light up but not obscure the sunset.
