Description
Every spring, the prairie chicken do their mating rituals on a Lek during the month of April and May. Leks (clearings in tall prairie grasslands or booming grounds) are essential for their mating rituals and their survival. In Wisconsin, these leks are managed by the UW Stevens Point and other local conservationists. This photograph was taken in a private farm that maintains the lek.
