An unexpectedly heavy snowstorm descended on central Pennsylvania. As twilight approached during the storm, I travelled about a mile down the road on which we live to this short dirt road. I wanted to keep the image of this scene graphically simple and somewhat stark, with the lines of the tree and receding bushes and fence emphasized in black and white. I used the falling snow to mask the distant background and provide a blank canvas for the curving tree. I used a fast enough shutter speed to freeze the snow flakes rather than let them blur through the image.
