Description

Brick Pond Wetland Preserve is 14 miles from my house. Several times in the spring and summer of 2015 I rose early, packed all of my gear and, dressed in camouflage, trudged out to hide in a makeshift blind photographing Wood Ducks and other pond residents. For two weeks in May the Cormorants had stopped through for a visit during their migration north. This particular May morning, as I drove through the fog I envisioned an image with a Cormorant perched on a stump with its wings spread at sunrise. And I was really excited to find this one while hiking back to my favorite spot. In that misty sunrise I found the wings closed to be a much more peaceful image. May 22, 2015
