South on 89 out of Mount Carmel, Utah till you see the sign for the turnoff to Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park.
Used graduated filter to hold back light on horizon. Photo processed in camera raw to correct for lens and chromatic aberrations. Photoshop CC used to up exposure by 1/3, vibrance +5 and saturation +20 to reflect what the eye saw at the time of capturing the image.
My wife and I took the opportunity to visit Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park while on a trip to southern Utah to explore Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. On this particular day we approached the area with the intent to shoot the sunset light. As it turns out we ended up assisting a group of ATV riders locate their party prior to capturing images of the dunes. We almost missed the remaining light of sunset by the time we could setup and take photos. This was one of the last images I captured in a series from that location. Working diligently to balance the brighter light on the edge of the horizon while still maintaining details in the cliffs and pink sand dunes. We hope to have more of an opportunity to explore this area in the future and have more time to photograph the amazing light at sunset on the pink sand dunes of this wonderful state park in Utah.
