After heavy rainfall, the landscape in Death Valley National Park can change dramatically. These large cracks seen here are a result of the rain and subsequent drying in the sun. After finding these cracks one afternoon, I woke up an hour before dawn the next day to capture a twilight scene. The moon was high in the sky behind me, which lit the foreground nicely. With the sunrise about 30 minutes away, there was some faint light at the horizon which created nice contrast with the dark peaks.
