Sun setting over the sawtooth range as waves crash on Lake Superior's rocky shoreline at Grand Marais, Minnesota. The dramatic back-lighting, wave action, and unmistakable skyline of the sawtooth range along Minnesota’s north shore of Lake Superior provide a memorable sense of place. I purposefully wanted a short exposure time to freeze the water as well as the mallard ducks as they flew over the rocky point. It took about an hour of waiting to get the ducks in the right position and timed when the waves crashed into the shoreline, catching the days final rays of light.
