Driving from The Dalles follow the signs to the Ghost town of Shaniko, turn left at the junction to the site at Clarno.

Notes

Early morning sunrises, and at sunset through the night with stars streaking across the heaven in your images are the best opportunities to capture this Unit's beauty.

Description

The Clarno Pallisades were formed by massive lahars from a group of super volcanoes that inundated this area millions of years past. What appears to be rock is actually rock, mud, plants, trees, and animal remains that hardened through eons of years.
