Nikon D800e, Nikkor 14-24 f/2.8, 30s, ISO 6400
Walked across the groaning ice to this nearby island, after dinner with friends. It was midnight, and I was looking for the low lying Milky Way. Instead, the golden sky glow of Parry Sound was more dramatic and more interesting. I set up my heavy aluminium tripod, the Nikon D800E with 14-24 f2.8, and tried a few shots - before realizing that the light from an iPhone for 6 of the 30s exposure was enough to highlight the scene. It was about 12:30 and -8C before my hands were too cold to continue, so walked back across the ice under star light.
