Description

The wild pinkshell azalea is a relatively rare variety, found mostly in the western NC mountains at high elevations. Given a rainy and foggy morning, their vibrant color was a dramatic accent against the darker forest greens and steely blue of the fog layer. As you can see, they bloom before the surrounding tree leaves have emerged. I was fortunate to find a plant with some great overarching lines in the mist.
