I had the opportunity to try out the new Nikkor 105mm f1.4 lens this week. It's pretty special. I took the lens, and my Nikon D800, on an early morning hike outside the Coachella Valley National Wildlife Refuge. A hazy sky wasn't ideal for color shooting, but it did provide some opportunities for this week's assignment. I took a number of frames that I thought might convert well in Silver Efex Pro and convey the moody look of the hazy morning in the desert. This shot, made at f1.4, shows the barb wire boundry fence of the Reserve with the Shadow Hills in the distance.
