Description

The water level in Oak Creek seemed higher and more turbulent the particular year this image was taken than in seasons past, therefore thwarting my initial goal of getting the iconic still-water reflections shot of Cathedral Rock. After slipping on a loose rock to cross the stream, shoes and socks sopping wet, and still not finding what I wanted to shoot, I got creative and eventually came upon a view very low to the ground to get this shot of the famous rock structure, shrouded by fall foliage and swirling waters below. I had to lie on my side on the ground with my tripod in its lowest position, to capture this image. Yes, photography can be a dirty job--but still fun!
