South Tufa State Natural Reserve is seven miles south of Lee Vining then five miles east, on the shore of salty Mono Lake.
1/4 second at f/16, ISO 50 35mm focal length. Three exposures captured one stop apart were adjusted in Adobe Lightroom, then combined in PhotomatixPro 6.
Storm clouds from the night before lingered at Mono Lake the next morning as sunrise approached. Rain was falling as I walked to the lake shore, and I almost dismissed the morning as "rained out", but the shower drifted out over the lake in time for stunning sunrise light to light up the breaking clouds and the lake's interesting tufa limestone rock formations.
