A compilation of photos showing the stages of the eclipse which occurred on 8/21/2017. When viewed from south Texas, the sun was approximately 60% covered at the height of the eclipse. The photos were taken using a homemade solar filter, made of 2 sheets of 2.5%, extreme limo black tint. The camera used was a Nikon D5300 set to ISO-100, f/45 and exposure time of 1/4000 sec. The lens utilized to capture the photo was a Tamron 70-300mm, with the focal length set to 300mm. This setup gave the photos a blue tint and allowed some sun spots to become visible.
