Woke up at 6:00 in the Toadstock campground, and the fog was so thick you could barely see a hundred yards. The weather app said the severe fog advisory was in effect until 8:00 am. What to do? Stick around and hope for the best, or hit the road in search of clear skies? I chose the latter, intending to drive to Wyoming. As I headed northwest of Alliance, it didn't take long at all to find the conditions I needed.
I had made a filter, and was all set to go. Conditions were windy and even on the tripod, at 600mm focal length, the camera was jittery. So I had to go with a much faster shutter than I had planned, which meant higher ISO's. Of course, as soon as the totality arrived, I removed the filter and got this shot.
