Reflection Pond in Denali National Park and Preserve is an iconic location for images of Mount Denali and the Alaska Range. Getting an image there requires exceptional weather conditions, including calm winds at the pond and lack of clouds that often obscure the mountains. Getting an image shortly after sunrise, such as this image, also means staying overnight at the end of the park road in a park campground or private lodge. I spent three nights at Wonder Lake Campground in late August and on my last morning there experienced this amazing sight. I was very fortunate; park rangers told me that Mount Denali had been socked in almost every day in August.
