I did not believe the contrast I had seen in photos of El Capitan during the winter months. So, I had to try to see it with my own eyes. During my first trip to Yosemite, a winter storm was clearing as I made my way up to Tunnel View. When I saw El Capitan's walls catch a glimpse of yellow light I knew that this phenomenon was not a fabrication. In this image I aimed to capture the contrast in hue and saturation between El Capitan the valley behind it, and the sense of wonder that it creates.
