Bodie is in the Eastern Sierra region of California, a little south of the town of Bridgeport, then 13 miles in on Bodie Road.
The main exposure for this image captured at 25 mm focal length was 0.4 seconds at f/16, ISO 200. Additional exposures of 1/8 and 1.3 seconds were captured, adjusted in Adobe Lightroom, and merged in Photomatix.
My favorite time to visit the abandoned Wild West "ghost town" of Bodie is as an afternoon thunderstorm is breaking up in the evening. This evening in June 2013 had a particularly timely breakup for sunset light. Fortunately we're usually fine for night photography by the time it's fully dark, so bring on the thunderstorms!
