Description

In the mountains of the west, freezing fog sometimes forms in the valleys--particularly when there is snow cover--and leaves behind gorgeous crystals on everything it touches. These crystals, referred to variously as "pogonip" or "hoar frost" look their best right after the fog clears and provides a blue sky backdrop. That's what happened this particular morning. The freezing fog lifted, and the pogonip that was left behind looked gorgeous with the blue sky as the backdrop.
