Lunar alignments like this can be anticipated in advance using planning apps on a smartphone such as PhotoPills and TPE, The Photographer's Ephemeris.

Two climbers ascend El Capitan while the nearly full moon rises behind Half Dome in Yosemite National Park, California. I've been pursuing moon rises by Half Dome since 2006, and I've caught it from many different vantage points in the park. The weather doesn't always cooperate but it always adds an extra interest to the composition. I started using moon rise tables provided by the Naval Observatory, then I added a DeLorme PN-20 GPS, and ultimately smartphone apps facilitated the process.
