A serene path through the ancient redwood forest beckons on a foggy morning. Every year in the late spring, I return to photograph the redwoods with the intention of capturing blooming rhododendrons at their base (not always with success). But here, you can see a small sampling of the biodiversity in California’s coastal forest evidenced by ferns growing among the ancient redwood giants. Consistent wet and foggy weather patterns are key to this ecosystem’s survival.
