I captured this image from the the shore of San Francisco Bay near Crissy Field and St. Francis Yacht Club.
This 150mm shot was accomplished with a single press of the shutter release. The moon is in its original place and size, nothing has been cut, pasted, or resized. Five bracketed exposures were captured, adjusted in Adobe Lightroom, then combined in Photomatix HDR software.
Astronomical events make such unique and interesting opportunities, I'm always motivated to get out and capture them. For the total lunar eclipse in late January 2018, I envisioned a composition with the setting moon essentially teed up on the south tower of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. I started shooting a little early, and ended up liking this shot from a little earlier in the eclipse even better
