From Bellingham's south side neighborhood of Fairhaven, drive a couple miles south on Chuckanut Drive, turn left on Old Samish Road, and park in a turnoff on the right. A trail leads downhill and along the stream.

This image was made while standing in Chuckanut Creek in Arroyo Park, on the south side of Bellingham, Washington, where I live. I am aiming to illustrate the abundance and the vulnerability of water. There are homes less than a mile from this location, a road runs above the creek, and its watershed includes a section of the freeway. This is a stunningly beautiful place, and fragile.
