McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park is the oldest state park in California. Its best known feature is Burney Falls, pictured here on a late-spring day. Burney Falls is incredibly majestic, with its two main falls cascading from the top and its dozens of smaller falls seeping from holes in the porous rock. It is a sight to behold anytime of year. Rather than use a slow shutter speed, which many do when photographing flowing water, I prefer to photograph Burney Falls at a quick shutter speed to capture the drama and froth of the water crashing down the falls.
