The Albion Basin in Big Cottonwood Canyon is a marvel. During the height of summer, the flowers blooming in this area explodes, creating a symphony of reds, blues, and deep purples that can almost overwhelm the senses. On this beautiful August morning, I made the drive from Ogden to Big Cottonwood, just over an hour with the intention of walking the Lake Mary Trail.
Even while driving down I noticed a collection of clouds which I welcomed. Nothing bores me more than blue skies! Clouds add depth and texture. Ansel Adams often said clouds are the friend of the photographer. I arrived at the Brighton trailhead, the ski lifts overhead, and made me way up the steep path. When I arrived at this point, I looked back on the stunning view! I loved the collection of flowers at my feet, the mountains telling their tale and the moody clouds drifting over the morning sky.
