Description

A few miles away in Lone Pine, the sky was clearing following the snowstorm, and the sun was bright and as warm as the air was cold. But here, just across the road from the WWII Manzanar interment camp, the drifting layers of cloud and fog were determined to keep out the light from above. Only a diffuse Celestial glow managed to penetrate the pall that hung over this monument to one of history's darkest moments.
