Mount Hood reflected in Trillium Lake. I had scouted the shore of Trillium Lake earlier in the day, looking for good foreground interest, and thought I had found two locations. However, when I returned about an hour before sunset, I realized the two locations were not good. Fortunately, a duck perched on one end of a rock provided a better foreground. The duck was very cooperative, sitting very still as I took a long series of long-exposure photos as I tried to avoid ripples on the lake. Taken on a road trip across the U.S. and Canada this summer. f29, 20 seconds, ISO 100, Pentax K-1, Pentax 28-105 lens set at 31 mm.
