Shiprock, known to the Navajo as Tse'-Bit'A'i (rock with wings) is a sacred site in New Mexico. It juts out of the otherwise flat New Mexican desert just south of the Colorado border near Shiprock, NM. I first noticed it while visiting Mesa Verde National Park. On top of one of the vistas, you can see it way out in the distance on the horizon. We had to jump in the car and head south so we could see it up close. From a distance, it lives up to its name in that it looks like a ship out in the ocean.
