Racing to this scene from Mt. Wilson near Telluride, Colorado, had me setting up my camera gear with minutes to spare to capture this panoramic. It appeared as if there wouldn't be a decent sunset near Telluride, so I decided to head back toward Dallas Divide in hopes of a sunset at the top of the divide. As I crested the pass, the divide was void of clouds, but Mt. Sneffels in the distance had significant promise. Now it was a race as to which county road I could quickly climb to capture a close view of my favorite mountain in the southwest of Colorado. I hoped County 9 would be my shot...and with minutes to spare...I was able to capture this glorious display of color. I will never forget the efforts it took to get to this spot and the gratitude I felt to capture this scene.
