Description

I was fortunate to experience the arrival of a pair of Florida Sandhill Crane chicks. Crane chicks leave their nest almost immediately after being born and begin to forage for food with their parents. This gives the chicks a better chance of survival from known predators. I filmed their fascinating behavior for the next 2 weeks and was pleased to see that both survived during that time. The Florida Sandhill Cranes are nonmigratory cranes and numbers are around 5000.
