Description

This capture was taken in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. I had documented a family of American Kestrels for 2 years and was pleased to have witnessed and documented some amazing things during them. I saw two different sets of babies, the mating of the adult pair (kestrels mate for life) and numerous feeding episodes including the capture of anoles, tarantulas and countless other creatures. This is Suzie, the female kestrel, she became very familiar with me and never seemed to care about my presence. However, Ozzie, the male kestrel seemed to be much more cautious when I was around. This photo was Suzie taking a break from hunting amongst the Tamarind Trees.
