The Natural Bridges trail is a beautiful two-mile round trip hike will lead you to spectacular limestone caverns that have been carved out by Coyote Creek which feeds into New Melones Lake.

Take Highway 4 to the town of Vallecito (4.5 miles east of Angels Camp and 3.3 miles south of Murphys) and turn south on Parrots Ferry Road. Drive 3.7 miles until you spot a large sign marking the “Natural Bridges Day Use Area” on the right. Park along the shoulder of Highway 4 or turn down the paved side road and park on the shoulder. Jules Verne's famous book "Journey to the Center of the Earth" has a scene where the protagonists pass through a fantastic portal into a surreal world long forgotten. This photo I attempted to capture that same mood and intensity.
