Description

The Caribbean Flamingos visit Tortola, British Virgin Islands during the summer from nearby islands. Many come from Necker and Anegada Islands to enjoy the dining on Tortola's salt ponds. I captured this one as it was keeping an eye on the approaching storm, Hurricane Irma, that devastated the Caribbean during the summer of 2017. All of the island was destroyed, including many animals. Over 50 flamingos in the flock were killed. This was the last time that I had a chance to document these incredible birds and the pristine and vulnerable environment of the Caribbean Islands...
