Topaz Lake Winter Reflection
This was captured from the north shore of Topaz Lake, alongside Topaz Park Road.
The main exposure was 1/200th second at ISO 200, F/8. This is a three-image HDR captured hand-held at 70mm on a Canon EOS 6D with an EF 70-200mm f/4 IS L Series lens. It was post-processed in Adobe Lightroom and Photomatix. The TIFF result was converted to black and white in OnOne Silver Efex ("Full Contrast and Structure").
With the arrival of El Niño weather conditions on the West Coast this month, we've been getting repeated storms here in the Eastern Sierra. In February it's been mostly snow, over 200" at the ski resorts, but here at 5000 feet elevation we can pop out between storms for some great landscape photography conditions. The light here in the Eastern Sierra is nothing short of amazing at times!
