It was a typical summer day on Monterey Bay, cold and foggy with the sun breaking through occasionally. We heard reports of a large group of humpback whales and made our way to this feeding frenzy just off the fog shrouded shoreline of Monterey. For two hours we watched whales, sea lions and sea birds feasting on thick schools of anchovies. I ended up going below decks to shoot out of the open porthole in the marine head so I could get closer to the waterline. I love this shot and it reminds me to always think about changing perspective to get something unique.
