On a January afternoon in the Park it was about 0 degrees when I spotted this Rough-legged Hawk perched on a tree that was being harassed by Common Ravens. Every few minutes the hawk would fly to other nearby trees to escape the other birds. As I observed them it was unfortunate that their distance was out of range for photo opportunities.
With wishful thinking I was hoping the hawk would fly in my direction and land on a tree near me. It finally accommodated me as it came within range being followed by the other birds. It just started to land but immediately aborted and decided to take flight again, creating the falling snow.
