This is a juvenile Black-crowned Night-heron perched in a up-high branch of a Cypress tree. It was difficult to spot since the surrounding tonality and the juvenile coat have similar colors. The red eye is a very distinctive feature for these birds. This picture was taken at Flamingo Gardens Wildlife Sanctuary open pond where all kind of wild birds visit or call it home. Captured with a Nikon D-7100 and Sigma 70-300 mm lens at 300 mm mounted on a monopod since this lens has no VR.
